We Tend to Care

At Tendto Credit Union, our investment in Erie, its people and its institutions is a deposit toward our shared future. What’s good for all is good for us and good for you. Together, let's make a difference right here in our local community. To Erie — lake, county and people.

Current Community Involvement

Tendto Credit Union invites you to make a donation and help us make a difference in our community. We are currently fundraising for the Second Harvest Food Bank's BackPack Program.

Stop in any branch and purchase a candy bar. All proceeds benefit the BackPack Program.

2018 Community Outreach Efforts

St. Martin Center

Waking up on Christmas morning and knowing that Santa came with gifts for you is a magical feeling that we all remember from childhood. With the help of our members, the credit union donated $606.06 to help the St. Martin Center Shining Stars Program provide Christmas gifts to more than 1,500 children in the Erie area.

Children's Miracle Network

More than 10 million kids enter a children’s hospital like St. Vincent across North America every year. To provide the best care for kids, children’s hospitals rely on donations and community support, as Medicaid and insurance programs do not fully cover the cost of care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network has helped fill those funding gaps by raising more than $5 billion, most of it $1 at a time.

With the generous help of our members, Tendto celebrated the credit union difference and made miracles for local children during a fundraising campaign benefitting the Children's Miracle Network. Efforts began with Miracle Jeans Day in September and ended on International Credit Union Day on October 18. Funds were raised through team member jeans days, Sarris candy bar sales in our branches and Shop for Miracles Day participation, in which the credit union donated funds for each credit and debit cardholder.

In total, we presented a check to St. Vincent Hospital, our local CMN health center, for $2,613.95!

Community Shelter Services

From July 19 through August 6, the credit union collected donations of new school supplies at all branch locations for Community Shelter Services, Inc. The supplies were then provided to local at risk children, giving them the opportunity for academic success.

Community Shelter Services exists to preserve the dignity and support the development of individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by providing temporary, transitional and permanent options for shelter, as well as supportive services, referrals, advocacy and community education.

Through the generous support of both members and team members alike, the credit union collected hundreds of dollars of school supplies, including backpacks, notebooks, markers, crayons, rulers, glue, pens, pencils and more,

Second Harvest Food Bank

Each year, Tendto raises funds to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank’s BackPack Program. The Second Harvest’s BackPack Program provides needy children with nutritious, child-friendly food when other resources, such as school lunches and after-school meals or snacks, are not available. Backpacks are discreetly distributed to participating children at schools on Fridays and helps provide the proper nutrition necessary for overall growth, physical and cognitive development and satisfactory performance in school. In July, the credit union presented a check to the Second Harvest in the amount of $597.95, raised through candy bar sales at our teller lines.

March of Dimes

Tendto Credit Union participated for the 15th year in a row in the March of Dimes “March for Babies” walk on Sunday, April 29, 2018 to support stronger, healthier babies right here in the Erie community. Numerous credit union employees and their families joined us for the walk around the Penn State Behrend campus. Additionally, two team members volunteered their time at the Memorial Garden during the event.  In total, the credit union raised $2,820.75 through Sarris candy bar sales, employee jean days and pledges obtained from the staff members who walked.

In addition to our member drives, the credit union also sponsors a variety of charitable organizations and community events throughout the year. This year, the credit union has supported: The expERIEnce Children's Museum, New Blossoms New Life Foundation, Fairview Cares, Make A Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation, Autism Society, Habitat for Humanity, numerous youth sports teams and more.

2017 Community Wrap-Up

In keeping the cooperative spirit of credit unions alive, Tendto continued support and investment in the Erie community by sponsoring a wide variety of charitable organizations and community events last year. Some of the charities included: March of Dimes "March for Babies", New Blossoms New Life Foundation, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, Second Harvest Food Bank BackPack Program, Salvation Army and the St. Martin Center Shining Stars Program. The credit union also sponsored WICU's "How Cool Is Your School Contest" for the eighth year in a row. In addition, Tendto donated time and money to support a variety of other local organizations such as: Erie BayHawks Kids Club, Fairview Cares, Autism Society, JDRF and many more!

In total, more than $55,000 was given back in donations to community organizations, sponsorships, member giveaways, scholarships and more during 2017. As we move forward, our dedication to making life better for Erie County will continue to be the foundation of our mission, just as it has been since 1958!
